　　After surgery glamorous actress, Veronica Ghent, travels with her nurse, Desi, to the remote highlands in order to attend a healing retreat. The other guests are eccentric and there is something different about the land; the nature seems to have a purpose of its own. Immersing herself in the dramatic surroundings, Veronica is given a new lease of life and finds purpose through the magical elements in the land. Desi must overcome her own battles to help Veronica make peace with herself. Veronica and Desi, the motherless child and the childless mother, find in each other a sense of family, and the future of a new dawn opens up to them.

　　January is forced to return home after six years traveling abroad. A near-fatal accident has left her temporarily wheelchair bound and depleted of her long-term memory. She is accompanied by her boyfriend 'Callum' whom she met whilst traveling. He was also the driver in the fateful accident. Not only has she forgotten her family, but her childhood as well and is surprised to discover that her home is a stately manor in the middle of the country-side. As January tries to settle in, she finds herself becoming even more estranged from her family, who just want their daughter back. The trouble is, she cannot remember who that daughter was, or why she ran away in the first place. Desperate to discover why she left all those years ago and with Callum's help, she sets out to find the truth. They soon discover the family are not as loving as they seem to be. Was there a dark reason why she left them in the first place?

　　故事讲述在维多利亚统治的最后几年，伦敦被「Touched」所困扰，这是一个大多数为女性的群体，他们突然表现出异常的能力，有的能力很迷人，有的则令人不安。这群人中，就包括神秘、吝啬的寡妇Amalia True，和杰出的年轻发明家Penance Adair。两人是这个新产生的下层阶级的拥护者，为「Touched」建立起了一个家，同时与各方势力斗争，为那些所知历史上没有立足之地的人赢得空间。 本剧是Joss Whedon自2009年《玩偶特工》以来首部独自创作的剧集，他和《吸血鬼猎人巴菲》编剧Jane Espenson、Doug Petrie共同负责剧本。Whedon在负责完首季前半部分后，因故退出该项目，Philippa Goslett被选任为新剧集运作人，负责后半部分，Whedon仍然保留创作者和执行制片的头衔。

　　一晃眼二十年过去。远赴他乡的雷登（伊万·麦克格雷格 Ewan McGregor 饰）再度踏上了爱丁堡的故土。哪知道刚一回来，就撞上了走投无路陷入绝望之中的屎霸（艾文·布莱纳 Ewen Bremner 饰）试图自杀，原来，屎霸不仅婚姻失败还再度染上了毒瘾。在雷登的鼓励下，屎霸决定用书写来治愈内心的伤痕。　　之后，雷登找到了曾经的挚友病孩（约翰·李·米勒 Jonny Lee Miller 饰），病孩因为曾经的龃龉痛揍了雷登，之后，一个复仇的计划在他心中慢慢成型。在病孩的邀请下，雷登决定和病孩合伙开一家妓院，之后，擅长设计的屎霸亦加入了进来。那边厢，锒铛入狱的贝格比（罗伯特·卡莱尔 Robert Carlyle 饰）越狱成功，在了解了当年事件的真相后，他亦决定找到雷顿向他寻仇。

　　该片由布莱恩·威尔许(英剧《逃脱大师》)自编自导，故事背景设置在上世纪90年代中期苏格兰的一座小镇，时值“锐舞”文化席卷全英，两个个性迥异的好友度过了一个令他们终身难忘的“锐舞”派对。
