　　Novelist Larry Donner (Billy Crystal) struggles with writer's block due to his resentment towards his ex-wife Margaret (Kate Mulgrew), who stole his book and garnered mainstream success and critical acclaim with it. Owen Lift (Danny DeVito) is a timid, middle-aged man who still lives with his overbearing, abusive mother (Anne Ramsey). Owen fantasizes of killing his mother but can't summon the courage to bring his desires into fruition. As a student in Larry's community college writing class, Owen is given advice by Larry to view an Alfred Hitchcock film to gain some insight into plot development. He sees Strangers on a Train, in which two strangers conspire to commit a murder for each other, figuring their lack of connection to the victim will, in theory, establish a perfect alibi. Having overheard Larry's public rant that he wish his ex-wife dead, Owen forms a plan to kill Margaret, believing that Larry will respond by killing his mother.　　He tracks Margaret down to Hawaii and follows her onto a cruise ship, apparently pushing her overboard while she tries to retrieve an earring that fell out. Owen returns from Hawaii to tell Larry of Margaret's death and that Larry now "owes" him the murder of his mother, lest he inform the police Larry was the killer. After having spent the night drinking alone during the hours of Margaret's disappearance, Larry panics because he lacks a sufficient alibi. That, along with a news report announcing the police suspect foul play, convinces Larry he's the prime suspect. He decides to stay with Owen and his mother in an attempt to hide from the police. Larry meets Mrs. Lift, but despite her harsh treatment of him he refuses to kill her. Eventually, when Mrs. Lift drives Owen to the breaking point, Larry finally relents and agrees to go through with the murder.　　After two unsuccessful attempts, Larry flees the Lift home when Mrs. Lift recognizes him as a suspect from a news broadcast about his ex-wife's disappearance. He boards a train to Mexico and, surprisingly, Owen and Mrs. Lift come along so as to avoid having to lie for him. During the journey, Larry's patience with Mrs. Lift reaches its pinnacle when she impolitely gives him advice on writing. He follows her to the caboose with the intent of throwing her from the train, but stops short when she almost falls off on her own. Owen begins having second thoughts about having his mother killed and comes to help Larry rescue her. Mrs. Lift is grateful at her son for saving her, but unappreciative of Larry's help and kicks him, resulting in him losing his balance, landing on the tracks, and breaking his leg.　　During his recovery in the hospital, Larry discovers Margaret is still alive; she simply fell overboard by accident and was rescued by a Polynesian fisherman whom she has decided to marry. Much to his annoyance, Larry learns Margaret plans to sell the rights of her ordeal for $1.5 million dollars. On the advice of a fellow patient, Larry chooses to free himself of his obsession with his ex-wife and instead focus on his own life, thereby freeing him of his writer's block.　　A year later, Larry has finished a novel based on his experiences with Owen and Mrs. Lift entitled Throw Momma from the Train. Owen visits and informs him that his mother has died (of natural causes) and that he's going to New York City for the release of his own book. Unfortunately, Owen reveals his book is also about their experiences together. Thinking his book has been scooped, an enraged Larry proceeds to strangle him, but stops when Owen shows him the book is a children's pop-up book called, Momma, Owen, and Owen's Friend Larry with the story drastically altered to be suitable for children. Months later, Larry, Owen, and Larry's girlfriend Beth (Kim Greist) vacation together in Hawaii, reflecting on the final chapter of Larry's book. Larry and Owen's books have now become best-sellers, making them both successful writers as well as close friends.

　　Dead End: Paranormal Park Season 1

　　Walter（理查·詹金斯 Richard Jenkins 饰）的生活一成不变，20多年来教同一门课程，与别人一起合著自己没有出过半分力的书，请私人教师学钢琴又难以与人相处。生活沉闷如一潭死水。直到与他合著出书的shelly待产而无法前去参加学术年会换成Walter出席，他的生命才赢来转变。　　由于妻子去世而极少去纽约的Walter一回到纽约的家赫然发现家里有两个陌生人！误会过后才明白这对小情侣是被人所骗才租了这间屋子。Walter让他们留下，Tarek是来自叙利亚的热情的小伙子，热爱打鼓，他的女友则是来自塞内加尔的黑人。Walter被Tarek的开朗所打动，跟他学打鼓，还跟着他去公园参加少数族裔的打鼓练习。　　这天Walter与Tarek练习过后赶着回家，过地铁时因为要过鼓Tarek错过了最好的过关卡的机会，从关卡上跳过时被警察逮捕拘留。Walter这才知道他们是非法移民，他为他聘请律师东奔西跑，毫无进展之际Tarek的母亲Mouna（西亚姆·阿巴斯 Hiyam Abbas 饰）因为担心儿子而上门，Walter安抚这位母亲焦急的情绪，带她去纽约四处散心，二人产生一种互相懂得理解的情愫。Walter从学校请了长假，决定留在纽约，去做他认为真正有意义且值得去做的事。

　　影片鲜明而真实地表现了1942年夏季苏军在顿河草原上的保卫战：一支团队在撤退途中，奉命占领一个小村后面的十字路口的高地。主人公在战前从事着不同的职业，战争使他们聚集到了一起。经过艰苦卓绝的战斗，这支团队完成了占领高地的任务，保住了团队的旗帜，但付出了惨痛的代价，伤亡十分严重。

　　克里斯蒂安与妻子艾琳回到一座阴森森的古堡，同行的还有他父亲的管家保罗及其妻子布丽奇特。20年前，幼年的克里斯蒂安曾在这古堡的“镜房”里亲眼目睹自己的父亲虐杀了一个金发女子。。。

　　故事发生在1900年，美国人马修是一个神枪手，为了一则招募神枪手的广告他跋涉了三个月来到澳大利亚，途中还顺便解救了一位把他错认为是男友的姑娘“疯狂”考娜。他们来到了马斯顿农场，却发现农场主马斯顿的雇佣他的目的是要让他射杀当地的土著人。愤怒的马修把马斯顿扔出房间，却被农场的打手们打的不省人事。然后又和考娜一起被扔到丛林中让他们自生自灭。二人被土著人救起。但得知了消息的马斯顿随即高价悬赏马休的人头，并派出手下追杀他们。面对马斯顿的嚣张和土著人的善良，认真起来的马修和考娜二人的报复同样冷酷而残忍。

　　In the time of Counter-Reformation, a miller and his son come under investigation by a priest of the Inquisition, when rumors spread that their prosperity comes from working with the Devil.　　The Devil's Trap is a film directed by František Vlá?il, based on a novel by Alfréd Technik, adapted by František A. Dvorák and Miloš Kratochvíl. It was the first of three historical dramas that Vlá?il made during the Czech New Wave (technically he isn't really a part of the New Wave, however these films were made during the same era of artistic freedom), preceding his more well known Marketa Lazarová (1967) and Valley of the Bees (1968).　　Set in the late 16th Century during the Catholic Reformation, in the Moravian Karst, situated in what is now the Eastern Czech Republic, it tells the tale of a miller (Vítezslav Vejrazka), and his son Jan (Vít Olmer), who come under suspicion and are investigated by a Jesuit priest of the Inquisition (Miroslav Macháchek), when rumors of witchcraft are spread by the local regent (Cestmír Randa), who is jealous of the miller's prosperity and degree of respect among the local populace.　　As expected from Vlá?il, this film is a stunning experience all the way through. From the opening shot, an ominous manipulation of perspective with a close up of a mangled figure of Christ dominating the foreground against a tiny figure in black walking along the horizon, to the breathtaking confrontational finale inside the vast stalactite filled Karst caverns, it is a wonderful display of visual mastery.　　Maybe not quite as impressive as Marketa Lazarová, but still full of astonishing imagery. As seen from unique angles and distinct points of view which highlight the director's remarkable sense of awareness of framing, motion, and positioning on the emotional and dramatic tone of the scene. The most memorable being a repeated shot where the camera is suspended and launched with speed through the air towards the miller's door.　　The story here is a simple one and I would say more accessible than his later works. With a conventional structure emphasized as much by its plot and characters, than by its expressionistic cinematography or authentic historical detail. The events play out without much surprise, and there is a strong underlying, almost supernatural, mysterious aspect that is left unresolved, in fact barely explored, which is slightly disappointing, but only because it's so fascinating that I wish there was more.　　Acting is great all around. Particularly the villains: Miroslav Macháchek as the priest, casting a sinister and imposing shadow wherever he goes, and Cestmír Randa as the weasel like regent behind all the persecution. While Vít Olmer brings a charismatic leading man presence in his role as the miller's son Jan, in love with the lovely orphan girl Martina (Karla Chadimová), who becomes a dangerous object of rivalry between Jan and other young men of the village.　　The film also features the evocative music of Zden?k Liška (perhaps the most prolific composer of the Czech New Wave). In this his second of eleven collaborations with Vlá?il, his compositions are used sparingly, but to great effect, complimenting but never overpowering a scene. The best example of which can be heard in an amazingly shot celebration and dance sequence at the end of the second act.　　The Devil's Trap might not be a masterpiece, but it is still a strong effort, with a fascinating straightforward story and a glorious historical setting captured beautifully by Vlá?il's unmistakable visual prowess. A fine work that would also be the perfect starter plate to prepare yourself for the challenging feast of Marketa Lazarová or The Valley of the Bees. It even has an easy to digest running time. It's therefore puzzling why this gem remains largely overlooked and ignored.

　　一如他曾把卡夫卡小說幾乎「抽象」化，也把巴哈女士日記拍得如此地貼近音樂而非文字，Straub的這種風格，除了執拗地延續像MoulletGarrel這些新浪潮好友的「極簡」手法之外，也算是為自己的「藝術」捍衛的極高體現。　　看來，我還得回頭去看一下Pedro Costa為「我們時代的電影」系列，為這兩夫妻拍的那一集吧，或許，我才真正能向他們更靠近一些（到底是Costa像他們而找他拍，還是Costa本身確實受到兩夫妻的影響，而得到真髓，所以找來對他們最有研究的創作者來拍呢？這我們就不得而知了）？

Larysa's mother is too psychologically weak to support her daughter. Larysa and Scar plan to escape from a life of crime, misery and their relatives. But are they ready to pay the full price for freedom?
